"Your greatest contribution to the Kingdom of God may not be something you do, but someone you raise." ~Andy Stanley

Wednesdays in the Word

I love John chapter one.
It tells us that Jesus is the Word.
"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning." John 1:1

'Word' here means 'revealer or communicator.' Don't you love that God sent Jesus to reveal Himself to us?

"He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him." (v. 10)

Jesus said "when you've seen me, you've seen the Father."

When we 'see' God we find out that His heart is and always has been all about redeeming the world to Himself.
"To all who received Him, to those who believed in his name, He gave the right (or authority) to become children of God." (v. 12)

"For the law was given through Moses but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." (v.17)
Whoo-hoo!

And how about this:
"And of his fullness we have all received grace upon grace." (v. 16)
Another version states it as "one blessing after another."
Anyone else feel like they've received 'grace upon grace' since you've come to know Jesus? Amen!

"No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father,
He has declared Him."  (v.18) And what a wonderful declaration it was!
So grateful!
